Context

Youse is one of the first Brazilian Insurtech brands. It is the first local insurance selling service based on a 100% online platform that belongs to Grupo Caixa Seguradora. Due to the way it’s operating, Youse can be inserted into the same group of companies that are bringing innovation to traditional markets to make them better and advanced such as Uber, Nubank, and Netflix.

This is a collection of some of my work as a Lead Mobile Designer from 2016 to 2017.

Heuristic Evaluation of Mobile Purchase Process

One of Youse’s biggest challenges is how to improve their online purchase process. The conversion rate is even worse on mobile, which is bad as several users try to purchase after downloading the app.

I’ve made a heuristic evaluation of the full mobile purchase process in order to identify possible issues. In the end, I’ve come up with about 50 issues.

Insurance Car Checkout

In order to reduce costs with third parties and create more convenience for the user, we made an online car checkout, so that users could make their car own checkout using the app, instead of waiting for a technician.

The challenge was on making the flow as simple and informative as possible, and to achieve this I’ve decided to make a prototype first to test with users. In the Framer prototype, I’ve managed to make the camera work, and the result was very realistic.

User Testing and Prototyping

Although the first app version was released only a few months before I’ve joined, I’ve observed that users were having some difficulties with the UI during usability tests. The UI was using unfamiliar navigation patterns, had a bad information structure and there was a lack of signifiers on interactive elements.

I’ve decided to design and prototype a redesign in order to address some of these problems and validate with users. In this Android version, I’ve decided to use Material Design elements, such as the tabbed navigation, cards and Floated Action Buttons.

Design Sprint

As I’ve mentioned before, improving the purchase process conversion rate was one of the top priorities for the company due to its immediate ROI, as the marketing investment is really high.

The challenge was that several squads and specialties were involved in flow and it was really hard to make them work together. I’ve organized and led a 5-day design sprint to help the team innovate and get results.
